We know the kids have been missing gardening with Ms. O and we're looking for a new permanent teacher, in the meantime, we’re starting Green Thumbs Gardening!
What is Green Thumbs?
Green Thumbs is a parent-run program where kids can come during lunch and get their hands dirty while gardening instead of being on the yard. Together we’ll learn about plants, care for the raised beds, plant fun new things, water, and care for the gardens. We'll be in front of the Bungalows B6 - B13 from 11:30am-1:15pm on Thursdays and this time will be open for all grades to enjoy and participate in. If your kiddos do want to participate it may be a good idea to have them wear close-toed shoes on Thursdays as well as appropriate gardening clothes (things that won't be ruined if they get dirty or muddy).
We’d love some extra adult hands!
We’d love some help pulling things out for the garden work, watching the kids, guiding them while they garden, and then cleaning up and putting it all away when lunch is over.
If you’d like to get involved…
As this is solely run by parents, without support from school staff, and we’ll be directly working with kids, all volunteers need to be Tier III. If you’d like to help but aren’t Tier III please speak with the front office to upgrade your volunteer level. As of now, this program will continue through the end of the school year.
